The Basics of RV Repair
Your RV helps you to take fun adventures with your friends and family on weekends or for longer trips. But an RV that isn’t well-cared-for can let you down on the highway or at the campground. That’s why regular RV maintenance is so important. Here are some of the basic steps you should take to keep your RV in good working condition at all times.
Do an Inspection
Before each trip, it’s a good idea to perform an inspection of the interior and exterior of your RV. You don’t want to just hop in and hope for the best, especially if your RV has been sitting in storage or in your driveway for weeks or months on end.
Keep it Clean
Your RV is much harder to maintain when it’s dirty. Also, dirt and grime can hide essential repairs from view until it’s far too late. Regularly wash the exterior of your RV and try to keep the inside tidy so that you can easily see what needs to be fixed.
Lubricate Seals & Moving Parts
Your slide-outs, window seals, and other moving parts on your RV can become sticky and stiff over time if you don’t keep them greased up. Apply an appropriate lubricant to these parts to help them run smoothly. Usually a silicone lubricant is best.
Check Tires
The tires on your RV have to hold a lot of weight, so make sure that you’re checking them regularly and changing out tires that are balding or old. Air up tires to the appropriate pressure levels before each trip.
