Managing Condensation in Your RV
If you own an RV, it’s important to be proactive regarding condensation management. Condensation can end up causing significant water damage over time, so be sure to read through this condensation management guide from MYRV.
Sources of Moisture
There are lots of places his moisture can come from, especially if there’s nowhere for this moisture to escape. Things like showers, cooking steam, and even wet clothes can release water particles into the air and create condensation. Even breathing adds to the problem. That means that the first step to managing it is to know where some of your biggest sources of excess moisture are coming from and trying to manage them at the beginning. When you're showering or cooking, consider turning on a fan or opening the vents or a window. This will give the moisture a place to go.
Measure Moisture
Another great step you can take is to invest in a hygrometer. Hygrometers measure the relative humidity of the air and luckily aren’t too expensive. The benefit here is that you can see if the moisture levels are starting to climb and stop the progression in its tracks before things get too bad. Ideally, you’ll want to keep humidity between 30-50%, give or take based on your climate. This can also help you notice high humidity even if you can’t feel it.
