Camping is a great summer activity, but what happens when the temperatures climb up precipitously and your camper doesn’t have air conditioning? You’ll get really hot and sweaty and probably won’t enjoy yourself very much. Fortunately, you can employ some of these strategies to keep the interior of your camper a little cooler and more comfortable so that you can relax.

Orient Away From the Sun

The sun is at its hottest during the mid-to-late afternoon, so try to park your RV with the door and windows oriented towards the east or north instead of the west. While you won’t always have much choice regarding where you park your camper if you’re staying at a campground, you can try to park your RV underneath a tree or other source of shade to keep it cooler.

Keep Your Camper Ventilated

During the cooler parts of the day, it’s helpful to open up doors and windows to allow air to circulate through your camper. You can set up fans near doorways to improve ventilation so that the camper doesn’t feel stuffy and hot inside. Make sure that your RV has vents on the roof to let that hot air out, too.

Cover Up Windows

Allowing all of that hot sunlight to stream into your camper every day will heat it up fast, so if you can deflect some light, your camper’s interior should stay cooler. A reflective bubble film on your windows can help with this immensely, along with shades or curtains.
