After you come home from a camping adventure, you probably want to relax, but it’s important to clean out your RV first. Doing a post-trip cleaning of your RV will not only prevent damage due to neglect, but it will also make packing and preparing for your next trip so much easier! Here are our tips on how to quickly clean your RV after a trip.

1. Remove Food & Wash Dishes

You’ll want to take out all perishable food from your fridge and cabinets. Anything that isn’t tightly sealed or still in its packaging can attract pests like mice and bugs. You should also wipe down cabinets and surfaces to remove spills and crumbs. Spray down the shelves of your fridge and wipe these as well. You can open a box of baking soda and leave it in the fridge to deodorize it if needed.

Wash all the dishes you haven’t managed to get to (your home dishwasher may be a help here) before drying them and putting them away. This is also a good time to empty the trash and take in any recycling you have.

2. Vacuum, Sweep & Mop Floors

The floors of your RV need a good cleaning after a trip, so you’ll want to sweep and mop all hard floors and vacuum any carpets. Take rugs outside and shake them to remove dust; you may also be able to throw smaller rugs in your washing machine.

3. Do Laundry

Strip the beds of their sheets and take all your towels into your house to wash and dry them. You may also want to wash your RV curtains if it’s been awhile, to prevent dust build-up. You can then remake the beds and stock up your RV linen closet for the next trip.
